Powder Metallurgy offers a low cost alternative with increased quality compared to the traditional ways of producing gears.

This technology enables the production of intricate shapes, many of which are complex, including optimized geometries (for example the teeth profile) which otherwise are only obtainable with extremely expensive processes. Various kinds of material can be used, from traditional steel (Fe-Cu-C) to the latest self-hardening compounds.

The production process is defined as a function of the application requirements: pieces are only pressed and sintered for gears with standard tolerances and tensile strength, sized if dimensions are more accurate; machined if the tolrances are not achievable within the sintering, heat or steam treated to increase hardness and mechanical performance.
