Example of an optimized part for PM technology
The joining of a wrought steel shaft to a sintered hub by key and keyway is very common.
The keyway detail does not result in any additional cost in a sintered part as it is in the line of draw.
An example of further improving the design is by including the key as an integral part of the hub (see image 11).
