Sizing

Despite tight process controls, it is unavoidable that there will be some differences between the part produced and the drawing dimensions.

It is possible to produce sintered parts to IT10 quality at 90º to the direction of pressing, and IT12 parallel to the direction of pressing.

More accurate tolerances are obtained by reworking the component - called sizing.

Tools are used which cause the material to be deformed under pressure, which reduces porosity and improves the surface finish.
